One in four residents of Montgomery County are at-risk for hunger, and those highest at risk are children and the elderly. Help make sure our local at-risk children not go hungry by volunteering in the Manna Food Smart Sacks Program!

More than 35% of public school students are eligible for free or reduced meals during the school week. Smart Sacks bridges the gap between Friday and Monday, providing nutritious foods for children and their families who might not have another meal until after the weekend.

Through the Manna Food Smart Sacks Program, Montgomery College students on all three campuses support over 200 hungry children and their families every week.

Montgomery College Office of Student Life and Service-Learning @ TPSS, currently we bag 60 bags of food for "Joanne Lelick at Broad Acres Elementary School."

This also includes Student Life Offices at:

GT which serves Fox Chapel Elementary School

RV Campus which serves  Beal Elementary School

DROP-IN VOLUNTEERS are needed Monday from 10 a.m.-11:00 a.m. to help pack sacks on campus.

DRIVERS are needed to help pick up on a Monday morning and deliver food on a Wednesday or Thursday morning as well.

If you would like to serve on your campus Manna Food leadership team, contact your campus service-learning coordinator.

On behalf of Dr. Lucy Vitaliti our Service Learning Coordinator @TPSS, we would like to welcome you to the Smart Sacks Program and look forward to serving our community with you!

NOTE: We always welcome plastic bags as they are required for bagging.

NOTE: Depending on the amount of volunteers bagging can finish in 30-45 minutes. The 10:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. is the maximum time limit we have set.
