Suffragist Rain on Wilson’s Parade – Walking Tour

Saturday, March 9th, 2019 from 11:00am to 1:00pm (ET)

About

Role play a suffragist as we celebrate Women's History Month!

Join DC EcoWomen for a guided walking tour lead by U.S. National Park Service Park Ranger Catherine Alvarado Cilfone to explore the spectacular 1913 pre-inauguration suffrage procession that filled Pennsylvania Avenue with 5,000 marching women, colorful floats and banners, ladies on horseback, and mayhem delivered by opposing forces. Over 100 women were hospitalized but the national event reinvigorated the struggle for women's suffrage. We will finish with a tour of the Belmont Paul Women's Equality National Monument. Be prepared for an energetic facilitated dialogue session at the House.

Meeting Point: Corner of 12th & Pennsylvania Avenue NW in front of the Ben Franklin Statue at the Old Post Office Tower Building. The 1.3 mile walking tour will follow the inaugural route in reverse and finish at the Belmont Paul Women's Equality National Monument (2nd & Constitution Avenue NE).

Note: While DC EcoWomen hosts many co-ed events throughout the year, this is a women only event.
