Work will include:
Small trees need to be cut down and/or dug out. Hackberries and pecans love to plant themselves here.
A trellis for our prolific grapes needs to be erected so the vines can continue to grow.
Our rainwater collection barrels need to be sealed and primed.
We will provide all materials.
However, we ask that your group bring their own work gloves, sunscreen, hats, and water bottles. We have filtered water, snacks, coffee and tea. We will serve an organic, vegetarian lunch, with regard for anyone who observes kashrut.
About the Organization:
The people who live at Mary House have terminal or critical illnesses; over half never were homeless until they got so sick they could not work and lost everything. These gardens are a delight and an inspiration to them, and your work will be especially appreciated.
Before the project, please join us for a Community Gathering and Mitzvah Day Kickoff at 9 AM in the JCC Community Hall. You can bring items for any of the collection drives to the JCC at this time.
Sun hats, work gloves, bottled water, sunscreen. Clothing appropriate for working in the sun and dirt
