The Empower Computer Proficiency Program is an educational program geared towards equipping adults with the technological skills needed to achieve their personal and career goals. We offer a 10-week computer proficiency series that teaches the basics of all the Microsoft Office and Google Suite, and covers the basics of mobile technology as well. We also integrate professional development training throughout the series.
Our participants range from parents that want to be able to complete simple online tasks like bill pay and communication with their children living elsewhere, to older adults who have aged out of the workforce due to their lack of computer knowledge, but who still need to work. We have both English and Spanish classes, with locations all over the city of Austin.
We are looking for volunteers that can speak English or Spanish, who are familiar with computers, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Programs. Our volunteers need to be patient people dedicated to lending a hand to those who aren't up to speed with basic computer skills. We want our participants to leave our program fully computer proficient, and with enough confidence to achieve their goals. Empower classes are held in several different locations throughout the city of Austin.
Our next Empower Series begins on April 20th, 2015, with a volunteer orientation held on April 14th.
For more information on when and where our classes are held, please email our volunteer lead at firstname.lastname@example.org
