Description
As part of the 2015 Heman Sweatt Symposium on civil rights THE DIVISION OF DIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN in partnership with
THE TEXAS GOVERNOR'S COMMITTEE ON PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES invites you to volunteer the 32ND ANNUAL BARBARA JORDAN MEDIA AWARDS!
Each year the Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities, in conjunction with local committees throughout the state, accepts nominations for media professionals and students who have produced material for the public which accurately and positively reports on individuals with disabilities, using People First language and respectful depictions. Nominations can be submitted by anyone, including the producer of the piece, by completing the submission form and sending it with any necessary supporting materials to the Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities.
The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement will need a couple of volunteers for this great event. Volunteer spots are limited, but it is a great way to learn more about the event. Volunteers are more than welcome to stay throughout the entire event!
Requirements
We need volunteers who are friendly and courteous to our gests. They also need to dress professional for this event. There is further detail of how to dress for each shift.

As a greeter, you will help those with accessibility needs enter the San Jacinto Multipurpose Room by opening the doors to the event. You will meet inside the San Jacinto Residence Hall and begin your shift from 5-7 pm. Dress attire for this event will be Business Professional.1/2Over
