The Labor Day Fires of 2011 burned nearly 2,500 acres on Griffith League Scout Ranch during the Bastrop County Complex Fire. So far, we have planted more than one million Loblolly Pine seedlings in an effort to restore the native forest and save the habitat of the endangered Houston Toad. Volunteers are needed to help plant an additional 250,000 Loblolly Pine tree seedlings.
Bring your own "no cook" lunch, snacks, water bottle, gloves, "sharp shooter" shovel, hard hat if you have one, and clothing appropriate for the weather. Griffith League Scout Ranch is a "Leave No Trace" camp, so be prepared to pack out everything you bring in.
