Description
Join the Green Kirkland Partnership to help with the restoration of Juanita Bay Park. Volunteers will spend the afternoon participating in restoration activities which may include removing non-native invasive plants like English ivy and Himalayan blackberry, spreading mulch over cleared areas, and planting native trees, shrubs and ground covers. No experience is necessary and we encourage volunteers of all ages to join us! Requirements: Please dress for the weather (layers are encouraged and rain gear is a must most times of year!), wear close-toed shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Bring a filled water bottle and snacks to munch on. Tools and training will be provided.Application: No application is needed, if you are under the age of 18 please visit the Green Kirkland Website for a copy of the Youth Waiver. Volunteers over age 18, may simply sign-in at the event. One time volunteers are welcome.Other Requirements: All Students are responsible for bringing a Record of Civic Engagement Form each time they are on site or at the community agency where they are serving. Additionally, students are required to obtain the appropriate signature from their community partner supervisor. Students can pick up a blank form at the CCE office (CUB LL48) on the main WSU Pullman Campus or online here. Completed hours must be submitted online here. Select 'Green Kirkland Partnership' under the Service Partner drop-down, complete the form and upload your signed Record of Civic Engagement Form as Proof of Participation.Contact: Jeremy Jones greenkirkland@kirklandwa.gov
