Role Title: Events Intern

Report To: Director of Operations



Role Big Picture: The Events Intern assists with the development and coordination of events sponsored by the Drew Lewis Foundation (DLF) This is achieved by assisting with day-to-day operations including fundraising, finances, team, operations, programming, building management, and our community.



Responsibilities of Role:


Fundraising Health

  • Represent DLF within applicable fundraising events and initiatives

  • Assist with production and coordination of events for fundraising


Financial Health

  • Assist in compiling programming data, in-kind donations and volunteer hours to be utilized in community and grant reporting


Team Health

  • Cultivate a healthy supportive team by modeling actions in line with the leadership we wish to see in our community

  • Assist with team needs through healthy development, partnerships, collaborations and oversight

  • Interdepartmental communication: work closely with, programming, and executive teams to meet specific and unique needs of for programs and event development

Operational Health

  • Assist with day-to-day organizational operations and procedures

  • Uphold policies and procedures to secure stability for continuity and growth

  • Assist with volunteer and member recruitment for events and programs


Program Health

  • Strategically plan and evaluate programming in line with mission and bandwidth, to build a stable foundation


Community Health

  • Strengthen community relationships and partnerships as an advocate for DLF's mission in professional, civic, and private engagements

 

 

 

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with event coordination preferred

  • Organizational experience (planning,scheduling, delegating, task facilitation)

  • Experience working with families, preferably low-income or high risk

  • Position subject to Criminal Background Check

  • Be self-motivated, punctual, and flexible

  • Ability to convey vision and communicate appropriately  

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with children, staff, parents and volunteers

  • Comprehends community needs and how to access everchanging resources

  • Ability to convey vision and communicate appropriately  

  • Ability to work with and activate diverse groups of people cohesively (donors, participants, volunteers) and be culturally sensitive and appropriate

  • Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, nonjudgmental, open personal qualities, clear sense of boundaries.

  • A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving both clients and fellow employees

  • Driven professionalism  

  • Understanding of non-profit organizational dynamics


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with event planning and coordination

  • Assist with volunteer management at events and programming

  • Assist with marketing, advertising, and media outreach

  • Promote events through social media and online systems

  • Conduct outreach to neighborhood schools, businesses, families and health care providers

  • Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training programs, supervisory sessions, and accept the responsibility for aiding the development of positive team relationships as requested

  • Promote quality and cost-effective interventions and outcomes

  • Adhere to Drew Lewis Foundation and MSU policy and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
