Become a Project Horizon Volunteer

Open Opportunity

Only formally trained volunteers are eligible to work within Lisa's House (our on-site shelter), as well as with clients and the agency.

If you're interested in participating in an upcoming training opportunity, follow these steps:
  1. Register here to let us know you're interested in our volunteer training program.
  2. Our volunteer coordinator will contact you to schedule an interview.
  3. Attend 20 hours of classroom training. (Trainings are offered 3-4 times per year.)
  4. Shadow experienced staff and volunteers over several shifts, for a total of 12 hours.

Training provides the necessary information for volunteers to be educated and equipped to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Topics covered include domestic violence, sexual assault, crisis intervention, protective orders, victims with disabilities, child abuse, victims in the LGBTQ community, and more.

* Please note:
- The application and interview must be completed to be registered for the next training.
- You must attend Saturday's class to continue training. Please contact Carol Fitzgerald if there are scheduling issues with any of the training days.
