Boo at the Zoo 2019

Friday, October 25th from 4:00pm to Sunday, October 27th, 2019 8:30pm

About

This annual Audubon Zoo extravaganza is a safe, fun-filled Halloween event for children up to age 12, featuring trick-or-treat houses with candy, Ghost Train, a haunted house, activities, entertainment and more. All games and treats, except concessions, are free with admission.

It takes approximately 300 volunteers each night to make Boo at the Zoo such a successful event. In order to work with this many people, there are some guidelines that we ask you to follow. If you are the coordinator or organizer of a group of volunteers, we ask that you share this information with ALL of those volunteers. We encourage you to make a copy for each volunteer.

Although it is not necessary, volunteers may wear an appropriate costume for the event. Casual clothing is fine as well. Please wear comfortable, closed shoes (for safety reasons, please do not wear flip-flops or clogs).

Please do not use a cell phone while you are volunteering. If you need to make or take a call/text, please get someone to take your place and move away from your area. Please remember that our customers have paid to come to the event and deserve your undivided attention.

Although beer is sold at the event, no volunteer may drink alcoholic beverages.

All groups of volunteers under the age of 18 should have adult supervisor(s)/chaperone(s).

All volunteers need to arrive by 4:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday and stay until the event is over and the supplies for their area are returned to their proper place. Volunteers are not permitted to leave earlier than closing time.

We do not expect to cancel the event due to weather (even if it is raining). If you have any questions concerning the weather, please call (504) 896-9486 and we will have a message providing instructions. Only extremely dangerous weather would force us to cancel Boo at the Zoo as there are no rain dates.

Volunteers may not go through the Trick or Treat line, ride the Mombasa Train or play the games. Please understand that all attractions for Boo at the Zoo are only for those who paid to come to the event. Even if you are taking a break and your area is covered, you may not do any Boo activity. Thank you for understanding.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. We really appreciate your volunteering for Boo at the Zoo. Without you, we could not have such a successful event. WE TRULY APPRECIATE YOUR DEDICATION TO CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL AND AUDUBON ZOO.
