Description

Position Description: The Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee, more commonly referred to as the DEI Committee ensures that Passion Impact maintains its focus on welcoming students of color and/or students eligible for free or reduced cost lunch through Portland Public Schools. Students from these backgrounds are not often afforded the privilege of volunteering and are less likely to have access to career development resources. Passion Impact aims to minimize the opportunity gap by challenging historically under-served students to apply their education to volunteerism. During reflection, students find connections between what they learn doing community service and what they learn in school. Additionally, during reflection, students consider careers relevant to their service. Meanwhile, the DEI committee operates behind-the-scenes to accommodate the needs of all students, pushing Passion Impact, on the whole, to become more culturally aware and intentional in its efforts to respectfully include people of all backgrounds.

Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Pass a background check through Verified Volunteers
  • Meet with Volunteer Coordinator to become oriented with position & organization

Qualifications:

  • Interest in equity and social justice
  • Confident in cross-cultural communication
  • Willingness to learn from others who do not share your perspective
  • Recognize and strive to rectify any implicit biases or patterns of exclusion or discrimination noted in the operation of Passion Impact
