Your computer skills can do amazing things for your community!
The mission of Austin Free-Net is to provide computer training and access for the community, fostering skills that enable people to succeed in a digital age. As an Austin Free-Net trainer at the St. John Community Center you will be working one-on-one with St. John neighbors, supporting them through their goal of becoming independent computer users. Rather than formatted class sessions, community members come to the lab with a goal in mind, a motivation behind it, and a determination to tackle the technological obstacle in front of them. Common steps in reaching these goals often involve creating and using email accounts, learning how to navigate the web, advancing Microsoft Word skills, making resumes, searching for jobs, creating and using social media accounts, and even starting online businesses! Each day at Austin Free-Net is new and exciting and by providing computer literacy help and training you can strengthen highly valuable teaching and interpersonal skills.
