Join the Indianapolis Rotary Under 40 Group, The Rainmakers Young Professionals Group, and the Columbia Club's Harrison Society for a volunteer event at the Wheeler Mission Thrift Store to support Indy Do Day and the Indianapolis community! Details for the event are below: Wheeler Mission Thrift Store Date: Thursday, October 1st Time: 4:00pm-6:00pm ADDRESS: 2730 South Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46225 (Located across the street from Kmart on the west side of the road. There are two light green buildings: The Thrift Store is the south building and the Distribution Center is the north building.) Phone number: 317.791.9186 PARKING: Parking is available on the south side of the Store or in between the two buildings SIGN IN and OUT: Enter the Thrift Store to sign in. Your contact is Pam. Please be sure to sign in and out on the volunteer sheets. Due to changes taking place within our ministry, it is very important ALL volunteers sign in and out on the Sign In Sheets. These sheets are located at the Front Desk directly inside the Center entrance Dress code: o Be modest! o Due to Indiana Health Code no open toed shoes, tank tops, and shorts o Please refrain from using headphones as you serve. We love to interact with our valued volunteers o Casual clothes are recommended o If anyone is wearing inappropriate clothing, they will be asked to change into clothes set aside for such purposes. If a volunteer is not compliant with this request, they may be asked to leave. Boundaries and Security: o Please don’t give money or exchange contact info with guests o No weapons are allowed. o Photography of guests is NOT permitted o Each of Wheeler’s residential locations has metal detectors and security cameras to ensure the protection of guests, volunteers, and staff o Please leave personal belongings in your vehicle behind. Wheeler is not responsible for lost or stolen property. o Please use discernment as to how to interact with guests of the opposite gender o We want you to be aware that our homeless guests may have criminal backgrounds, including sex offenders (Shelter for Men only). Minors and Children: o Please keep minors nearby, either within eyesight or at your side, at all times o Volunteers under 18 must always be accompanied by a parent or adult Be flexible: o We ask that you come to your scheduled volunteer time with a patient heart and extend flexibility if your opportunity doesn’t go as anticipated!
