Description
The Event Assistant is a hands-on position and often involves working as part of a team. Event Assistant must be able to accomplish a wide range of activities requiring clear communication and excellent organizational skills. The candidate must be able to respond quickly to change, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of an event. The individual will work closely with the Director of Special Events.

Principal Responsibilities

*Assist in planning and executing special events & fundraisers * Research on marketing of other gardens and facilities * Assist with the preparation and execution of wedding, rentals, and other special events * Work with clients to ascertain their precise event requirements * Co-coordinate everything on the day of the event to ensure that all runs smoothly * Co-coordinate vendor scheduling-caterers, florists, bakeries, party planners, and equipment rental companies * Meet & Greet client and guests * Enforce the rental policies of the Garden’s with the client, caterer, guests and vendors. * Oversee the dismantling and removal of the event and clear the venue efficiently. * Be a good representative of the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks Various other duties.

Education, Training, and Traits: Attending a University High School diploma or GED Possess a strong commitment to customer service Highest ethics as they relate to all aspects of business Skills and Abilities Good communication skills are required as this person will be working directly with clients.

Physical demands: In the work environment described below, the position requires verbal and written conversation with others, sitting standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, and strenuous lifting/moving objects up to 50 pounds. Ability to work independently, with initiative, and as a team player Strong ability to work under pressure and with time constraints Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve

Requires Training before assiting with private events.  Would like to have 2-4 Volunteers continue on an on-going basis to rotate out working as Event Assistants.
