LaAmistad is seeking teachers for the adult English for Successful Living (ESL) program. This program takes place on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Under the supervision of the Site Director, the instructor will support, teach and motivate students in the process of learning English as a second language.
Qualifications:
Be 19 years old or older
Complete LaAmistad ESL training and orientation
ESL certified is preferred but not required
Be sensitive and adaptable to learner's differences and needs
Commitment to bettering lives through education
No previous teaching experience necessary
Training:
Hands on training will be provided on site by the director and other staff members upon completing the basic training and orientation.
Selection:
All prospective teachers must submit an online application form and successfully complete a background check screening.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work with adult learners of all backgrounds
Possess good interpersonal and organizational skills
Possess characteristics of responsibility, desire to help others, discretion, and flexibility.
Ability to work independently applying critical thinking and problem solving skills to various situations.
