We are looking for graduate student volunteers to work with a group of Afghan Fulbright scholars who just started their graduate studies at various universities throughout the US this fall. 70 Afghani Fulbright scholars will come to the University of Arkansas on Wednesday October 14th and stay through Sunday the 18th for a conference focusing on Social Movements in the US. Their time here will include some lectures, workshops, and other off-campus field trips and cultural activities.

We are looking for U of A graduate students who can mostly clear their schedules for these days
and be available to help out with a wide range of jobs including logistical help moving participants between sessions, guides on excursions around northwest Arkansas, and general graduate student comradery during social activities. The calendar is relatively full for these 5 days, and we need friendly and dependable volunteers who are available for the 4 evenings of the program, plus a few other daytime activities. From this experience they will receive:

  • An experience of cross cultural communication and diplomacy

  • Full participation and professional development on Social Movements in America, the conference theme

  • Day and evening meals provided

  • A Fulbright College T-shirt

If you think you want to be involved, please send your most recent resume or CV and a brief letter explaining your interest in the program to Upon receipt of your CV, I will send you a volunteer schedule with the required activities for volunteers plus a few others where you can help if you’re available. In early October we will hold an orientation with all of the volunteers to talk in detail about the program and the expectations.

We are looking for U of A graduate students.
