Autumn Garden Maintenance

Sunday, October 6th, 2019 from 11:45am to 3:45pm (ET)

About

Perform autumn garden maintenance by harvesting/cleaning out raised vegetable beds, replanting fall crops or cover crop, relocating raised bed and soil, weeding native pollinator gardens, oiling wooden furniture, and sorting, cleaning, and store tools. If very bad weather, this project will be canceled by phone calls to registrants on 10/6/19 in the morning.

After you sign-up, you will see a confirmation screen and receive an email message. Then a few days before this project, PMD will email specifics, including directions to the project site by public transit and by car, a checklist on how to prepare, what to expect, rain postponement plan, and waiver.
Actively used since it was created in 1993, the Growing Center has been renovated during this past year but needs help with seasonal maintenance. The Somerville Community Growing Center garden is a place for people of all ages and backgrounds to gather, learn, and celebrate to grow community. It is a center for both environmental education and cultural performances. The Center provides a hands-on learning environment for local youth to learn about the natural world, science, community service, and cultural issues. Volunteers coordinate a full season of concerts and other events that are free to the public, in addition to educational programming.

"Anyone who has a library and a garden wants for nothing." --Cicero
