Tutors/Mentors Needed

Recruiting: High School and College students as tutors/mentors


Volunteers Needed:  Norfolk Public School students in grades 2-12 need

            support after school

Where:  Club Sandwich, Wesley Memorial Church,

288 E. Little Creek Road, Norfolk


When: Mondays-Fridays (when NPS is in session), 3:00-6:00. Students start

arriving at 2:30 and receive a snack.  Homework starts 3-3:30, after which time students will work in the computer lab and/or do indoor and outdoor

recreation. Volunteers may choose their days and the amount of time they will participate each afternoon. Please let Ms. Wainger know your availability.


Areas of focus:     Homework help, literacy skills, math reinforcement, computer support.


New Program-Volunteers Needed: Middle School

            Math-algebra readiness/review


A computer based program currently in use at ODU for math reinforcement will be introduced to middle school students at Club Sandwich in November.  If interested in exploring this, please come to a TRAINING SESSION on Friday, October 30, 4:30, Wesley Memorial. 


At 3:30 that day, prior to the math training session, you are invited to attend a new computer program, Tech for Seniors, that will allow our high school and college volunteers to work one-on-one every Friday with senior citizens teaching them computer skills.
