From Sculpture to Mulch: Final Goodbye to Stickwork

Come on out and help Pease Park Conservancy this Saturday, October 5th from 9am - 11am to help us return the beloved Stickwork sculpture to the park land. The mulch created by Stickwork will be re-purposed and used to help sustain the park's ecosystem. This is a great opportunity for those of us who loved Stickwork to participate in this final stage of the artwork and the intention set out by artist Patrick Dougherty.

We will be meeting at 1100 Kingsbury Rd, at the picnic tables on the south end of the park starting at 9am. Volunteers will be gathering the tools and bringing the supplies up to Live Oak Meadow where we will be working. Please wear closed toe shoes and work appropriate clothing. Always a great idea to bring along a water bottle!

Additionally, we will be watering the thirsty trees near Live Oak Meadow. The trees will appreciate the watering!

About Stickwork:
On January 26, 2018, internationally-acclaimed environmental artist Patrick Dougherty wove the last branch of his majestic sculpture Yippee Ki Yay, the latest installation of his Stickwork series. After three weeks of havesting and weaving, the piece rested in the heart of Pease Park. Entwined with Pease's scenic landscape and Austin's unique culture, Yippee Ki Yay enthused Austinites and park-goers for nearly two years. Now that it has come to the end of it's natural life cycle, we will be returning the materials back to the land.
