In NYC, approximately 700,000 people are eligible for Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP, formally known as Food Stamps) but do not participate in the program.
On Friday, November 20th, 2015, Met Council and the JCC Staten Island will be canvassing the neighborhood to ensure that local residents learn how to boost their budget with SNAP and other benefits. We will be traveling to local grocery stores, malls, and parks to get the word out. On-site orientation and training will be provided.
We will meet at the Berkinow JCC and travel to local sites from there.
Please wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate attire as we will be working both indoors and outdoors.
