Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentoring Program

Open Opportunity

About

Mentoring is a rewarding way to get involved and give back. Many children in our area are in need of mentors. In just a few hours a month your students can be a positive role model, provide valuable support and encouragement, and give a  Little the invaluable gift of friendship. We also provide professional coaching to ensure that both the Big and the Little have a successful match.

Below is some additional information about Big Brothers Big Sisters program and how to get involved.

Site based: 4 hours per month. You and your Little will meet for 1 hour per week at the school at a set day and time. Spend time reading, working on art projects, playing games, or just enjoying quality time talking to reach goals. Great for people with a set schedule that allows them to volunteer between the hours of 8am-3pm.

Community based: 9 hours per month. A few times a month you and your Little will go on outings together and share activities that you both enjoy. Help shape a child’s future for the better by broadening their horizons and empowering them to achieve. Great for people that can commit more time but need the flexibility of scheduling times that are convenient for them and their mentee’s family.

If either of these options is something your students would be interested in, the next step would be for them to schedule an interview. To be a mentor, you must pass a background check, complete the application and orientation process and commit to mentoring for one year in our Community program or a school year in our Site program.
