What is CYC's Mentor Advantage Program?

Community Youth Concepts aims to connect Iowa youth to high quality opportunities that prepare them for success in school, work, and life. Our Mentor Advantage Program (MAP) pairs middle/high school students with positive adult mentors to bridge the gap between what students are learning in the classroom to real life application. Many of our students have big goals for their future but no one to help them navigate the path, leading to confusion, frustration, and low self-confidence. Our mentors work with students one on one to provide academic support, helping them figure out their passions, and have fun doing it!

What do I do as a mentor?

Time together between a mentor and a student can be spent doing things the two of you enjoy such as exploring a local museum, attending community events, or helping the student with academic and career goals. All mentors are asked to commit to spending 4 hours/month for a minimum of 1 year, but scheduling time with your mentee is flexible based on your schedule.
