Origami Crane Project: Volunteers Needed!

Tuesday, November 19th, 2019 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm (CT)

About

The Dougherty Arts Center is seeking volunteers to assist in the creation of a Senbazuru, a group of 1000 origami cranes strung together by string. Originating in Japan, the practice of creating a Senbazuru, is often used by communities to offer peace and good health to others. The crane, considered a holy creature in Japan, is said to live for 1000 years.

The Senbazuru will be installed for the public to enjoy on December 3rd, 2019. Come learn the art of folding paper cranes, make a wish for yourself and be a part of this collaborative community art installation.

No experience is necessary! All ages are welcome, however youth under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
If you have experience folding paper cranes and would like to assist us with instructing fellow volunteers, please indicate so in your application.

The City of Austin is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Reasonable modifications and equal access to communications will be provided upon request. For assistance please contact (512) 974-3914 or Relay Texas 7-1-1.
