The Children's Healing Garden is the newest addition to Austin Child Guidance Center.  We wanted to utilize the amazing space we have and provide our clients with a safe space to explore and reflect upon their healing process within nature.  Nature provides us all with so many metaphors for life and can be a very useful tool in the theraputic process.

Our therapist use the garden during sessions with their clients and often families will stay after their session to enjoy the beautiful space.  Your help is always needed to make sure this space is maintained and beautiful for our clients to enjoy.  Although you don not have direct contact with our clients in this role, you are very much a part of their healign process through your work here.

As a volunteer, we ask that you make a semester commitment (Summer: May-August) to coming in once a week for about an hour. Of course you are welcome to come in more or stay longer if you'd like to! We are very flexible with the scheduling, we understand things come up and we don't want to add stress to your life! Your garden duties would be to water the flower beds, prune plants, and weed.

We also require you to come in for a 30 minute orientation. At the orientation you will fill out an application and forms for a background check (since we work around children). Then you will be given a tour of the garden, walked through the duties, and discuss scheduling.
