Help alleviate food insecurity and poverty in NYC by pre-screening individuals and families at the Flushing JCC Food Distribution who are eligible for the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program or SNAP (formerly known as Food Stamps) benefits, but are unaware.
Volunteers will be trained on SNAP benefits and preliminary eligibility information so they can canvass and pre-screen attendees on site. This is a hands-on project that has volunteers go out directly into the community and make an immediate impact.
We are in great need of a Mandarin-speaking volunteer for this volunteering opportunity.
