Serve Your City: Plant Trees with Friends of Trees in Forest Park!

Saturday, February 22nd, 2020 from 7:45am to 1:45pm (PT)

Join PSU's Student Community Engagement Center to volunteer your time and energies by planting trees with Friends of Trees on this "Serve Your City" project!

Love green spaces? Want to help insure the growth of native species in Forest Park?

Friends of Trees and Portland Parks & Recreation need your help to remove invasive English Ivy and replant with native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers to help enhance this iconic park.

WHAT TO BRING: Friends of Trees events can be dirty business! To make sure your experience is fun and comfortable, please wear comfortable closed-toe shoes or boots and warm, rain-ready clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Bringing a water bottle is always a good idea too!
PROVIDED FOR YOU: Friends of Trees always provides gloves (youth sizes, too!), tools, and guidance--as well as breakfast snacks, hot chocolate, and coffee to get you fueled-up.

We will need to arrive at the Aspen Entrance to Forest park by 8:45am to sign in and be ready to take an approximately 10-minute walk on steep terrain to the planting area. The planting will start promptly at 9:00am. We provide breakfast snacks and hot chocolate/coffee, as well as gloves, tools and guidance. Please come dressed for the weather and wearing sturdy, closed-toe shoes and get ready to have fun!

Please note:
The group will meet at 7:45am at PSU to take the streetcar and bus over to this project together. If you would prefer to meet directly at the project site at 8:45am, please indicate this in your registration.

This project is open to all Portland State University students through the Student Community Engagement Center's #serveyourcityserveyourcampus program and coordinated by Student Leaders for Service.
