Description
We're getting closer - I will be sending email communications also but here's a quick update on plans for Saturday.

  1. Shifts:  I have not setup shifts.  We're flexible on time and the expectation with alll the goings on (i.e., Baseball, soccer) will be to show up and put in an hour or more if you're able.
  2. I will have a table setup for check-in near the lower entry gate on North Hills. The goal will be to get you checked in, provide tools, assign work area and provide a quick safety overview.  I hope to have t-shirts pre-arranged as well depending on when they are available.
  3. Fruit, trailmix and water will be available throughout the workday.
  4. The work assignments will be delegated based on ages and capabilities.
  5. Work assignments:
    • Mulching distribution - 5+ beds -- we're getting a huge load of mulch and will need a great deal of help transporting it to various locations in the parkWe hope you'll join us this year for It's My Park Day at Doss Park!
    • Mulching/spreading - will need volunteers to spread the mulch in the various beds
    • Limestone brick placement - will need help placing these heavier stones around a couple of select beds
    • Planting - I'm expecting to have a couple of Crape Myrtles for the Far West leg.  We'll need help digging and planting these.
    • Cleanup - will need a number of volunteers to perform a sweep across the grounds with trash bags and also available at the latter part of the day to assist with final wash down, tool collection and possibly blowing off areas where mulch has overlapped
    • Clearing - depending on the tools we have available, there's an option we're looking at for leveling and clearing some of the larger rock in the "soccer" area near North Hills -- could be very difficult work depending on the assessment (TBD)
  6. Bring gloves if you have them and wheel barrows will be greatly appreciated. We will only have a limited amount of tools provided.

Looking forward to meeting you and to a successful work day at Doss!

Any questions, please email me at seaj93@gmail.com or call my cell 512-645-6085.
