Description
Blackshear Elementary, located in East Austin, was awarded the highest honor an elementary school can receive, The National Blue Ribbon Award from the White House! The Department of Education will be visiting Blackshear for a special event and we will be helping Blackshear to prepare and make sure the school is in tip-top shape.

Types of service you can do this day at Blackshear include...
Gardening & yardwork
Indoor & outdoor painting
Completing the garden pond
Organizing and revamping classrooms (shelving, hanging up student art etc..)
Decorating the theatre room (creative minds please step up!)
Hanging blue ribbon decorations throughout school
Beatifying benches

Requirements
Priority for volunteer sign ups will be given to members of the PA150s: Sustainable Community Development Class, and UT Service Scholars. Other than that, we invite anyone to come out and help make this event happen!
