Life Time — The Healthy Way of Life CompanySM proudly presents the 10th Annual Life Time Tri Tempe. We'd like to invite you to voluneer to help with the international, sprint, super sprint, paratriathlete or relay waves (both sprint and international relay options available).

Life Time Tri Tempe also offers a first-timer wave for those new to the sport of triathlon. The first-timer wave is open to anyone (even experienced athletes) looking for a low-stress, less competitive experience.
Requirements
Volunteers under the age of 18 must have parental/guardian supervision during each shift
Parking DetailsParking on Saturday and Sunday will be located in the US Airways parking garage. This garage is located on the corner of Rio Salado and Ash right across from Macayos. Saturday you are free to park in the Tempe Beach Park Parking lot but this parking lot will be closed on Sunday for the race.

The Set up Crew will assist the staff in taking Tempe Beach Park and making it our event venue. This will include setting up Tents, Tables, Soft Fencing, Bike Racks, etc. Must be able to lift at least 25 Lbs and climb in and out of trucks with ease.

All athletes are required to come to pick up their packet and check in their bike on Saturday. Athletes will first need to sign a waiver and bring it to you. They will need to show you their ID and USAT license if they are an annual member. You will look for their packet by last name and make sure their USAT card number matches the number on the packet. You will then give them their packet, T-Shirt, and Goodie Bag and Direct them to the Bike check in.

As athletes pick up their packet they will make their way over to the transition area to check and rack their bikes. You will need to check to be sure all their Stickers and Timing Chips are placed correctly on their bikes. You will then direct them to the assigned bike rack. (Athletes and Volunteers ONLY will be allowed in transition, no family or friends)

As athletes arrive they will need to be Body Marked. The Volunteer Coordinator will provide you with instructions on where to body mark and a marker. Every Athlete will need marked before entering the water. After the race begins you will go to the West Side of Transition and assist at the mount/dismount line until your relief arrives at 8:30am.

First you will begin on the West Side of transition assisting at the Mount/Dismount line. All athletes MUST dismount their bikes before entering the transition area. We will also need some volunteers in the Tempe Beach Park Parking lot directing the athletes to slow down as they enter the dismount zone. We will then steal some of you away from that area to help with Bike Check out and Transition security as we open transition back up for athletes to collect their belongings. The Number on the Bike must match the athletes wristband number in order to remove any race equipment.

This position is extremely important to the safety of the athletes. When you arrive you will check in at the Volunteer Tent. The Bike Course Coordinator will then come pick you up and drop you off at one of the crucial parts on the Bike Course. Your Job will be to yell as the Athletes approach either to slow down, notify them of debris on the road or a pothole, or give them general directional signals.

As each athlete comes through the aid station you will hold out cups with either water or electrolyte in them and yell to the athletes what you have so they can easily grab your cup and continue on the run course.

The Run course will stay central to Tempe Town Lake so you will be semi close to the venue. As Athletes approach you will need to yell out directional instructions to them. There will be 3 different courses that you will need to direct them to.

Wave sign holders will hold the wave boards that help the athletes decipher where to line up for their assigned wave group. Wetsuit strippers will stand at the top of the swim out stairs and assist athletes with removing their wetsuits.

As athletes cross the finish line you will need to provide them with cold water, gatorade, snacks, oranges, etc. When you arrive you will begin with getting Ice into the water coolers to begin chilling the water. Next you will need to cut the oranges and set out the snacks in the provided containers. Each Finisher will receive a Finishers medal as well. This position will also include timing chip removal.

This position will require a Mountain Bike. We will need a Lead Cyclists for each distance to lead out the First Male and Female. You will wait at the run out side of transition until you see the person you are assigned to. You will then lead them throughout the entire run course and into the finish line to be sure they do not take a wrong turn. **Must know the run course ahead of time.

As our Final athlete leaves T2 to head out on the Run course we will need a cyclists to follow this final athlete on the run course. You will have a radio or communication with the Timer and Race staff to keep them notified where the final runner is located on course as well at their condition if medical attention is required. Race staff will be present if the athlete is still on course after the official cut off time.
