This Passover, join Met Council and our Partner Agencies to help feed over 250,000 individuals and families in need. As we quickly approach the Spring, volunteers are needed to assist with the distribution of Kosher-for-Passover food in all five boroughs of New York City. As dates are established, this document will update accordingly. Please complete the following information if you would like to hear back from us with details regarding how to be a part of the Mitzvah of helping New Yorkers receive over 2 million Kosher-for-Passover meals this Spring.
Volunteers are needed in multiple capacities:
1. Food Pantry Volunteer: Stock pantry shelves, pack food boxes, clean, and organize Kosher food pantries.
2. Benefits Screening & Client Demographic Collection: Participate in training followed by sharing and collecting important information about food recipients.
3. Food Distribution: Help with the distribution of Kosher-for-Passover food to Jewish New Yorkers in need. Volunteers will assist clients with their choice of Kosher food, assist Met Council staff with carrying, opening, sorting, and moving boxes of food. For this specific role, we ask that volunteers are able to stand for long periods of time and lift 10-15 lbs.
Some (but not all) positions require volunteers to stand for up to 3 hours and lift up to 20 pounds.
