About

Are you passionate about serving the Portland community, making a difference in various impact areas, and supporting a team of PSU students working with different organizations around the city?

The Student Community Engagement Office is seeking enthusiastic applicants for our 2020-21 Serve Your City Volunteer Leader roles! If you're interested in supporting and leading fellow students in local community-based service projects throughout the year -- and earning a $500 leadership scholarship each term -- read on!

About the Program: Serve Your City / Serve Your Campus service projects give students an opportunity to get involved in our community, one service project at a time, with some of our favorite community-based organizations. Students can engage with a variety of impact areas in the Portland community through both one-time and term-long service projects. For PSU students looking for a shorter term commitment, Serve Your City / Serve Your Campus one-time shifts are a great opportunity to get connected with other PSU students and learn more about an organization in the course of a morning, afternoon, or evening. For students interested in digging a bit deeper, helping out for a longer period of time, or who may have a class requirement of service, Serve Your City Extended Projects help students get connected to and learn more about one of Portland’s impact areas as they serve with a community partner for a full term. The purpose of Serve Your City is to strengthen PSU students’ connection with the larger Portland community, learn about various impact areas, and help out with our many partner sites.

Serve Your City Volunteer Leaders serve for all three terms (Fall, Winter, Spring) and help to coordinate, recruit for, and lead volunteer days (2-3 one-time projects/term and one Extended Project) recruit, train, and support student volunteers. Serve Your City Leads will also participate in the weekly Student Leaders class to gain a more in-depth look at impact areas in the Portland community and to learn more about leadership skills when organizing volunteers.

The information you provide in this application will be useful for the Student Community Engagement Center in selecting Volunteer Leaders for the 2020-2021 academic year. Please read through the position details below and provide as much information as possible in your application.
