NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia (NARAL VA), a statewide, nonprofit pro-choice organization and affiliate of NARAL Pro-Choice America, seeks a part-time Campus Organizer to lead our electoral and education initiatives on their respective college campus. Our mission is to develop and sustain a grassroots constituency that uses the political process to guarantee every woman the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices. This job is perfect for someone with campus, electoral, or issue-based organizing experience.


Campus Organizers are responsible for building a NARAL chapter on their campus. They report directly to the NARAL VA Hampton Roads Community Organizer and are responsible for building relationships on their college campuses and increasing the pool of potential volunteers, members, and activists through a variety of outreach activities. They are also responsible for assisting NARAL VA’s electoral efforts and mobilizing student volunteers.



·Create a recognized/chartered NARAL chapter on your college campus and recruit/supervise a four-member student leadership team

·Target and recruit faculty and staff allies that will support NARAL’s campus initiatives

·Build campus NARAL membership to at least 25 students on your campus by the conclusion of the academic year

·Communicate consistently with NARAL VA Hampton Roads Community Organizer through weekly phone check ins and weekly tracking forms

·Attend a Student Organizer training with NARAL VA staff

·Execute a campus-specific grassroots campaign plan by building campus coalitions among the campus undergraduate, graduate, staff, faculty, and administration populations

·Facilitate campus programming including, but not limited to, documentary screenings, panel discussions, brown bag lunch series, lectures, and workshops

·Produce written materials including: sample letters to the editor, op-eds, campaign updates to supporters, press releases, and action alert emails

·Other duties as needed



·A commitment to reproductive rights and the NARAL VA’s mission

·Experience with community and/or political organizing

·An interest in student life and an understanding of the campus’ political climate

·Strong verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills

·An ability oversee a Student Leadership Team

·Willingness to work some nights and occasional weekends; statewide travel sometimes necessary

·Maturity, flexibility, humor, and discretion

·Access to a car or ability to travel to local electoral campaigns a must

  • Occasional weekend work required
  • Stipend or internship credit available
