About
Volunteers will plant shrubs and grasses in the understory at Knollwood Terrace, owned by the City of St. Louis Park. This work will create shoreline habitat and add to the biodiversity of this creek-side park, which has been affected by buckthorn and other invasive species. This park is connected to other restoration sites that Great River Greening works on by the unique Minnehaha Creek, and your assistance will help us continue to open up access all along the waterway. All are welcome, any necessary training will be provided. Pre-registration is required.
This event will take place over the course of three shifts spread out over the morning and across the site, to ensure that we can maintain social distancing and minimize the number of people gathering. To ensure that as many people as possible can participate in the event, we ask that you only sign up to attend one shift. If the event fills up, please sign up to be added to the waitlist - if there are cancellations, you will automatically be registered.
Bottled water, a sanitation unit, and hand washing station will all be available, but there will be no food provided at this event to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Once you have registered through GivePulse, organizers from Great River Greening will approve your registration and you will receive confirmation. If you are a minor registering yourself, you will need to provide an email address in the "Linked Survey" box so we can send the Youth Liability Waiver to your parent or guardian. If you are an adult bringing a minor, you can add them as an attendee and simply check the "Youth Waiver" box upon registering. If you are an adult registering yourself and another adult, you will need to enter their unique email address to the Attendee registration, so they can confirm their registration and sign a waiver.
If you'd like to register as a group (Scout Troop, employees of a company, a school group, gardening club, etc), please contact volunteer@greatrivergreening.org.
DAY OF:
Please arrive at your scheduled shift assignment. Upon arrival, Great River Greening staff will safely check you in and get you into your work groups. Face coverings will be required. There will be water, hand sanitizer, masks, gloves, and other tools available for you to utilize. We will complete the restoration in our work groups alongside a Volunteer Supervisor, and you will be visited in your group by Greening staff throughout your shift to learn more about the work you are doing.
LOCATION:
Additional parking instructions, as well as a detailed map, will be sent out to registered attendees.
SAFETY:
Ensuring the safety of our volunteers is our highest priority. It is important that event participants wear close-toed shoes and long sleeves to protect against ticks and scratchy brush. We recommend dressing for the weather, layers are key. We will have bottled water available, but please bring your own filled reusable bottles to reduce waste - there will not be any refill stations for sanitary reasons.
RELEASE OF LIABILITY:
All volunteers participating in Great River Greening events release Great River Greening and its employees, officers, directors, or agents from any and all liability from claims of any nature whatsoever arising from participation the extent such liability is directly attributable to the negligence of GRG, or its respective employees, officers, directors or agents.
In addition to signing our liability waiver, we have an additional waiver specifically pertaining to the risks of participating in events during the pandemic. We ask that participants in our events follow all safety procedures laid out by Great River Greening, and alert Great River Greening if your children or you are directed to self-quarantine and/or test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days after attending a GRG event.
Note: By registering online, you will complete the release of liability and photo release waivers, including release of liability regarding COVID-19.QUESTIONS:
