Explore Outdoors and Report Your Findings

Open Opportunity

Are you looking for a flexible, independent volunteer opportunity that will get you outside? We have just the thing. Report your findings at select Great River Greening restoration sites featured on iNaturalist. No experience or previous education is needed. iNaturalist is a free, community science-based platform that will help you identify plants and critters you spot in the wild. Simply snap close-up photos and upload them to iNaturalist right from your phone or computer. Your observations will help our team of ecologists monitor restoration progress and have much-needed added data.

Current observation sites include portions of Lebanon Hills Regional Park, Lilydale Regional Park, Allemansratt Wilderness Park, Quarry Park, Carroll's Woods/Schwarz Pond, Sunktokeca Creek WMA, Dora Lake WMA, John Peter Hoffman WMA, and Big Woods Heritage Forest WMA - with more to come soon!

Please register here to confirm your interest in sharing observations with us. Upon registering, you will receive additional information about iNaturalist, how to access Great River Greening's current projects, and other helpful details and directions. Track and report any time spent recording observations *here*.

Please reach out if you have any questions! iNaturalist also has a number of great tutorials and help forums.

Note: By registering online, you will complete the release of liability and photo release waivers, including the release of liability regarding COVID-19 as well as the release of liability to all landowning entities.

Contact Great River Greening's Outreach Program Manager, Amy Kilgore at volunteer@greatrivergreening.org or call 651.272.3989.

Thank you to our partners and funders -- We couldn't do it without their support, or the support of volunteers like you!
