Virtual Homework Tutors Needed to Spanish Speaking kids from ages 5 to 13

Open Opportunity

About

Hispanic Service Council has been offering support and resources to the Latino community of Hillsborough County through our various programs like La Red de Padres Activos for over 26 years. The Network of Active Parents program provides families with a 12 weeks curriculum that navigate participants through the educational system in Hillsborough County Public Schools. We provide support and build confident by empowering our families to be engaged in the education of their children.

We are looking for volunteer teachers or tutors that can help our ESOL students participating in our Network of Active Parents program. This person will need to be bilingual (English & Spanish) and reside in Hillsborough County as we require anyone over the age of 18 to pass a level 2 background check. The ages of the children range between 5 and 13; and grades Kindergarten to 8th grade.  They need assistance in the following subjects:

  • ESOL
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Math
  • Science

We are also always open to any individual that would like to teach ESOL to our participants. When we provide parents the opportunity to learn English they feel also empowered by one of the things that becomes one of the biggest barrier, the ability to speak, understand and be understood by others when communicating in a non-native language.

If this opportunity speaks to your heart, please contact the Volunteer Resource Liaison at 813.510.7992 or email at Anissah.Tomas@hispanicservicescouncil.org for more information on how to get involved.
