POPULATION SERVED
We are a Title I school. 100% of our students qualify for free breakfast and free lunch under the federal government poverty guidelines. All students are offered a free, healthy, after school snack daily. Additionally, every Friday, 50% of our students take home individual bags of food for weekend nourishment.
COMMUNITY NEED
Our goal is to offer strong academics and family support to all students. The message conveyed to these students on a daily basis is that the pathway to living a life of possibilities and fulfillment of their dreams is through education. Many of our students do not have family support at home. Some families have a language barrier and cannot read the assignments. Other parents have never completed school themselves. We work hard to offer field trips, after school tutoring, sports activities, and other various extra-curricular activities for enriching their educational experiences enabling them the opportunities to explore all of their personal interests. For these reasons, volunteering and grant partnerships are integral to achieve the goals for this small community school.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
With your help we will support these students and give them the training they need. Our core academic program is supplemented with support in life skills, social skills and behavioral training. All students are trained in these areas as heavily as they are trained in their academics. These components lay the foundation of what makes STEP UP School strong for this community. If these skills are not taught at home, we will teach them at school.
