Working with young activists to improve farmworkers' lives
September 2021 - April 2022 | 10 hours per week, 20 weeks
Spend the academic year interning with Student Action with Farmworkers and learning about the farmworker justice movement and gaining nonprofit leadership skills. Through mentorship and training, 5 Solidaridad interns gain an understanding of farmworker issues as well as experience in social justice and nonprofit work, while increasing SAF’s capacity to fulfill our mission.
Online applications accepted on a rolling basis through August 27. There is a $20 application fee. To pay the fee please go to the SAF donation page and enter your application fee as a donation specifying it is for the Solidaridad internship on the donation note.
- $3000 stipend
- 1 day Saturday orientation, 2 day weekend mid-retreat, and 2 day weekend final retreat with SAF's Levante Leadership Institute
- Peer support by a cohort of 5 participants
- Mentorship by SAF staff
- Potential academic credit
Preference will be given to students currently enrolled in college in the NC Triangle area.
DREAMers or recent graduates based in the Triangle area are encouraged to apply
No Spanish Language required
Able to work approximately 10 hours/week and visit the SAF office at least once a week. SAF will provide transportation support to help students come to the office or students may use their own transportation
SAF preferences students from farmworker families.
Participants must fundraise $450 to contribute to SAF's work. SAF provides students with fundraising training and support.
