About

SCARE for a CURE is in the middle of building its 2021 Haunt and we need your help.  No specific experience or skills are required to volunteer.  We have many different areas you can help - Building, Art, Special FX, Props, etc.  We can find a place for you!

Just want to provide a reminder of our normal Build day info with our Covid Protocols below that.  
How it works when you get on-site:
  • There will be a sign-in booth for you to sign in and out.
  • You will need to fill out a volunteer waiver and covid waiver – if you’re under 18, please have a parent or guardian bring you the first time.
  • After you fill out your paperwork, we’ll put you to work with other volunteers.
  • Lunch will be served around 1:00.
  • Cleanup of the site will happen just before and after lunch.
What to Bring
  • Water bottle
  • Work gloves
  • Tools (optional) – please label with your name
  • Bandanas, headbands, chill rags or cooling neck ties as it can be very hot and sweaty work
What to Wear
  • Sturdy closed toe shoes (no flip flops)
  • Comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting dirty
  • A hat
  • Sunscreen

SCARE for a CURE COVID-19 Safety Policy and Procedures - Volunteers

Anyone who has a known or suspected COVID-19 exposure within the last 14 days should remain in home quarantine and not attend SCARE for a CURE.  Please check your temperature prior to leaving your home. If you experience any of the symptoms below or any other concerning symptoms prior to your volunteer day, please stay home.  

If you have any of the following symptoms, please remain at home: temperature of 100.0 or higher, cough, difficulty breathing, body aches, chills, sore throat, nasal congestion, runny nose, unexplained fatigue, unusual headache, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, unexplained rash.

Should any volunteer develop symptoms of, or test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of being onsite volunteering they should contact Brooke Garrett, SCARE for a CURE Volunteer director and/or Susan Pratt, SCARE for a CURE board president.

Volunteers Responsibilities:

  • All volunteers must read and agree to these new rules to return to Scare.

  • All volunteers must sign a waiver specifically regarding COVID-19..

  • A manager/board member must be present for all workdays.

  • All volunteers are recommended to wear a mask in common areas, within 6 feet of others. Masks are required within the Grubshack.  If you forget your mask on the volunteer day and would like to use one, SCARE for a CURE will have a limited number of masks available.  

  • Depending on the number of volunteers out that day we will do a staggered lunch. The manager running build that day will provide you with the info.

  • Recommend the use of hand sanitizer immediately upon entering and before leaving.

 

SCARE for a CURE responsibilities:

  • Recommend the use of hand sanitizer immediately upon entering and before leaving.

  • Provide a designated/labeled table outside the box for items/tools to be wiped down & return to their home in the box.

  • 1 manager/board member will be responsible for checking items in & out of the box, as well as wiping down items before returning to their space.

Note: These rules may change, in order to comply with local, state and national regulations and to implement best practices.

Requirement Details
Wondering if you should register to volunteer? Based on the CDC guidelines, we are asking you the following questions:
  1. Have you been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? See the CDC’s risk assessment guidance.

  2. Do you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19? Symptoms can include a cough or shortness of breath or at least two of the following: Fever, Chills, Repeated shaking with chills, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat, New loss of taste or smell. See the CDC’s symptom information.

If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, we ask you not to register. We are doing all we can to align with best practices and keep our community healthy.
