About

Due to the community respect for the over 4,000 COVID deaths in San Antonio and in gratitude to Hemisfair’s generosity, Deep In Our Hearts, the San Antonio COVID Memorial will remain in place until October 15th.

We will be taking down the temporary COVID-19 memorial to make way for the new Civic Park on October 15th . We will need volunteers to help take down thousands of hearts that have been affixed to the fence line.

If you and/or someone else you know has a memorialized heart that you would like to keep, please remove it anytime between now and October 14.

Memorialized hearts that remain as of October 15 are being archived at the San Antonio Museum of Art, the Brick at Blue Star, Texas A&M San Antonio University, and the McNay Museum.

What to bring: wire cutters or heavy duty scissors for cutting plastic tie straps. You also may want to wear work gloves to protect your hands. A bottle of water would also be a good idea!

Don't forget to put on sunscreen and dress to protect yourself from the sun.
