Description

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Central Texas Food Bank!

The best way to view upcoming volunteer opportunities is through our online volunteer registration system. There you can view the online calendar, schedule your shifts up to two months in advance, and send a request to volunteer with a group of up to 120 volunteers.

Our key opportunities include volunteering in our warehouse, lending a hand in the garden or kitchen, or helping at one of our mobile food pantry distribution sites.

Warehouse- Bond with old friends, and make new ones while helping ensure only the safest, highest quality food goes out to folks who count on us every day. You'll inspect, clean, sort, box and make food donations ready for distribution to our Partner Agencies and the families they serve. Shifts last 3 hours and are available Monday through Saturday. We can accommodate up to 120 people and youth ages 8+ are welcome with adult (21+) supervision. Watch a video about volunteering in the warehouse, here

Kitchen- The Food Bank facility includes a 4,200-square foot commercial production kitchen that supports on-site meal preparation for multiple programs. Shifts last 3 hours and are available Monday through Friday. Youth ages 15+ are welcome with adult (21+) supervision. Watch a video about volunteering in the warehouse, here

Garden- The Food Bank’s Garden serves as a replicable model of sustainable growing practices and teaches clients the importance of healthy eating and physical activity. Come help empower your community as you assist our gardener by planting seeds and seedlings, pulling weeds, shoveling compost, harvesting produce, and cultivating the garden beds! Shifts are available at various times each week, weather permitting from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Watch a video about volunteering in the garden, here

Mobile Food Pantry- Asking for help can be the hardest thing folks have to do. We rely on volunteers to ensure our mobile food pantries are welcoming, respectful places for clients to get the help they need. Distributions occur at sites across our 21-county service area, including Austin, Lexington, Bartlett, Lott, Cedar Park, Mustang Ridge, Fredericksburg, San Saba, Johnson City, Uhland and Kosse.
