Forest Restoration Project on Eakin Road

Saturday, November 6th, 2021 from 9:00am to 12:00pm (ET)

We want to plant 400 trees with you this Saturday!

This land has historically been neglected and used as an illegal dump site. This site is in poor shape but has a tremendous amount of potential. Over the past three years volunteers have been working to remove litter and invasive species, plant trees, and engage the surrounding community. On site is small  rear portion of the wetland that serves as a resting area of water fowl along a fly over migratory route. The longterm goal is to keep the land undeveloped, create a vibrant space for wildlife to thrive, and humans to explore.

Please dress appropriately, dress in layers and prepare for inclement weather, wear toe-covering boots/shoes, and/or items you don't mind getting dirty. Work gloves will be provided, but please bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. Attendees are required to wear a mask and maintain social distance, this will not be hard to accomplish as the space is very large and volunteers can easily spread out.

As a thanks for your hard work, everyone will enjoy snacks, and a variety of other goodies from Green Columbus!
