Destination Imagination is a non-profit dedicated to inspiring creativity and teamwork in children from Kindergarten through High School. The organization is seeking volunteers for their upcoming regional tournament, to be held in Georgetown,TX on February 18th, at which small teams of students will compete in one of six performance-based challenges, focusing on Fine Arts, Engineering, Science, Technology, Improvisation, and Community Service. There are two ways to help out: 1. Sign up as an Appraiser. On the day of the regional tournament (Feb 18th), you will serve on a panel of judges for one of the team challenges. Appraisers must also attend a half-day training session on January 28th. On the day of the regional tournament, you will serve on a panel of judges for one of the team challenges. Please note that this option requires a full day commitment, but is lots of fun. The judges are typically a fun-loving group and the team performances are super creative and funny. 2. Sign up as a general volunteer. You might be assigned any number of tasks in this role from monitoring doors, to providing directions visitors, to selling merchandise. This is not nearly as fun as serving as an appraiser, but it is less of a time commitment and still super important. No training is required to serve in this role and you are committing to only a 4-hour time slot on the day of the tournament (Feb 18th). Both the appraiser training session and the tournament for the Heart of Texas Region will be held in Georgetown, which is about a 40 minute drive from downtown Austin. Many thanks for considering lending your support for this exciting and educational event!
