International Cyclo-cross Racing Returns to Fayetteville!

On the heels of last January’s Cyclo-cross World Championships, Fayetteville and the Northwest Arkansas community is once again set to welcome a worldwide audience of teams, athletes, and spectators as host for the 2022 OZ CX and UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup - Fayetteville weekend of events October 14-16, 2022.

The OZ CX weekend will provide a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive atmosphere with a charitable purpose - raising awareness and meaningful fundraising opportunities for Arkansas Children’s Northwest, the areas Children's Miracle Network Hospital, serving more than 200,000 kids in Northwest Arkansas.

Arkansas Children’s is the only hospital system in the state solely dedicated to caring for children, which allows the organization to uniquely shape the landscape of pediatric care in Arkansas. As the events recognized beneficiary, revenue generated from the 2022 OZ Cross and UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup – Fayetteville weekend will directly benefit Arkansas Children’s Northwest.

Hundreds of volunteers are needed to make this event and important fundraiser a success, and there are a variety of volunteer opportunities and shifts available to select from. If you are a cyclo-cross fan, it’s your chance to see past world and national champions, Tour de France stage winners, and up-and-coming stars competing for wins on the World Championships racecourse – while supporting a meaningful cause! Requirement Details
Some simple Do's and Don'ts to consider:
  • Do plan to attend a virtual volunteer training in early October. Participation is encouraged. More details will be shared closer to the event.
  • Don't drive to the venue unless you are just getting dropped off for your shift. There will be no onsite parking for volunteers at the event venue. The Ozark Outdoor Foundation is offering complimentary offsite parking and shuttles to and from the event venue each day. Parking is located at Baum Stadium - 1420 S Razorback Rd, Fayetteville, AR 72701.
  • Do allow time for riding the complimentary shuttle (30 minutes should be sufficient) and try to arrive a few minutes before your scheduled volunteer opportunity.
  • Do bring enthusiasm and good spirits.
  • Do plan to receive complementary volunteer gear including a t-shirt to be worn throughout your shift.
  • Do check the weather each day and come prepared for cooler temperatures. Races happen rain or shine.
  • Do wear comfortable, preferably closed-toe shoes appropriate for standing and walking on natural and uneven terrain.
  • Do respect local Covid-19 measures.
  • Don't bring outside food or drink into the venue.
  • Do bring an appetite. Volunteers will receive a complimentary meal with each shift.
  • Do bring extra cash or other forms of payment if you wish to purchase memorabilia or additional concessions.
  • Don't walk by empty bottles, cans, wrappers, or other waste that might have been left on the ground.
  • Don't walk on racecourse except in dedicated course crossings.
  • Do not smoke, vape, or use tobacco products of any kind while at the event venue. They are prohibited at Centennial Park.
  • Do tell your friends to consider signing up for a rewarding volunteer experience that supports Arkansas Children's Northwest and 200,000 children across Northwest Arkansas!
Perks
In addition to a rewarding volunteer experience, volunteers will receive event specific merchandise including t-shirts to be worn during your shift, complimentary lunch, hot and cold beverages, and a few other surprises up our sleeves.
