Overview of Nonprofit Organization: Junior Achievement (JA) of Georgia is an education non-profit that inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy. JA of Georgia’s programs are intensely focused to bring relevance, authenticity, and application into every learning to energize students around academics and their future possibilities. Currently, 45% of Georgia’s middle school students are impacted by JA Discovery Centers.

Description of Volunteer Opportunity: 6th grade students from metro Atlanta will interact within a simulated economy and take on the challenge of running a business. As a volunteer, for one-day, you will come alongside a group of 5-8 students, “coaching” them throughout the day with knowledge gain from your on-site volunteer training and support from the JA staff. During the experience, you will answer what it’s like to have adult responsibilities and empower students to make their own adult decisions during the simulation. Volunteer Experience Video

Sample Agenda:

· Arrival & Check-in: 8-8:15am – business casual attired recommended

· Volunteer Training: 8:30am

· Student Arrival & Simulation Start: 10am

· Lunch: 12pm (Chick-fil-A sandwich (Atlanta location only), chips, and bottled water. A microwave and refrigerator are available on-site if bringing own lunch)

· Volunteer Dismissal & Debrief: 2:45pm
