C.D. Doyle Clinic relies on student volunteers for the entire intake process. This involves greeting patients, taking vital signs and patient histories, completing paperwork, and creating a welcoming and accepting environment for all clinic visitors. Cooperation and communication with other volunteers is also essential. Please note that prior knowledge of intake skills (vital signs, patient interviewing) is NOT a requirement for volunteering. We only ask that you arrive ready to learn and serve our patients to the best of your abilities. We will teach you everything you need to know for the day!
If you have a stethoscope, please bring it with you. Limit other personal belongings as there is no place to store them. Please wear scrubs or a health-related T-shirt with jeans/khakis. Punctuality is appreciated; we will only have a limited amount of time to train you before clinic begins at 2:00 pm. Clinic takes place in the gym, but we usually don't open the doors to the street until 2pm. Instead, enter through the main doors of the church (under the blue awning). Take your immediate left and go down the hallway. Almost at the very end, you'll see a door to the stairwell on your left. Take these stairs all the way down and you will see the gym.
We are looking for undergraduate, graduate and post-baccalaureate students with an interest in healthcare. Experience taking vital signs or patient histories is a plus, but is not required. We will teach you all necessary skills on the day of clinic. Please arrive promptly at 1:30.
