Breakthrough Teaching Fellows are committed to personal growth, education equity, and developing as leaders and learners. Teaching Fellows learn to be lead classroom teachers, through professionally designed training and continued support from Instructional Coaches and professional staff. Additionally, Teaching Fellows have the opportunity to take on leadership roles planning community events and projects.

Breakthrough Teaching Fellows are undergraduates of all majors to ensure Breakthrough students interested in STEM, business, the humanities, or any other major, have the opportunity to connect with Teaching Fellows who are as passionate about the same topics as they are.

Breakthrough Teaching Fellows come from diverse backgrounds and bring with them a variety of life experiences. At Breakthrough, we know it is important for our students to have teachers who they identify with. Over 75% of Breakthrough Teaching Fellows identify as people of color and over 40% of Teaching Fellows are the first in their family to attend college.

Breakthrough Teaching Fellows create and nurture Breakthrough’s community, culture, and fun! No Breakthrough summer would be complete without spirit days and spirit checks, All School Meeting, field trips, talent shows, and unique Breakthrough traditions! Our alumni carry Breakthrough culture with them back to campus and beyond as they build innovative communities of their own.
