UGA Food2Kids joins the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia (FBNEGA) in building bags for the Food2Kids food assistance program!
The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia provides bags of meals (containing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack items) to children registered as being food insecure. These bags serve to provide food assistance for each weekend day that schools cannot provide food assistance and are filled with nutritious and simple-to-open meals, snacks, and drinks best suited for children. Volunteers from UGA Food2Kids signed up for this event may be responsible for set up, stocking, bagging, and cleanup for this event.
Responsibilities: Setup:If necessary, volunteers may need to assist pulling product following a list of items and stocking items from dense to most damageable from the front to the end of the line. Volunteers remove the packaging of product and separate for recycling. Volunteers will assist regulating product to ensure all items are stocked during the event.Bagging: Following directions, volunteers will prioritize accuracy than speed while building bags in a moving assembly line to ensure each kid receives the exact same number of foods in each bag. Volunteers will bag one county at a time, taking a short break between each county and assisting with stocking product for the next county when applicable.Cleanup:After counties have been completed, volunteers will place product back in their respective places, sanitizing and breaking down tables, and sweeping the floors. If bagging is complete with excess time remaining for the event, volunteers may assist in the setting up and execution of an additional volunteer event. If time permits, volunteers may assist the FBNEGA's Volunteer Department staff in setting up for the following volunteer event.
