Welcome! If you've been looking for an opportunity to enrich the lives of children with special needs, this is it. At Joshua's Stage, we host after-school programs, workshops, camps and more, and through theater arts, music and dance, photography and arts and crafts, we give our participants the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity, increase their self-confidence, and build their social skills. As a volunteer, you will:
- Work one on one with participants as needed
- Help participants to understand the activity
- Model how to do the activity
- Support participants during transition periods from one activity to the next
- Monitor participants during recess activities
- Establish and maintain rapport with the participants, instructors, and parents
- Maintain a positive and energetic attitude
- Consistently catch participants being good, frequently provide verbal praise
- Embrace the program experience as a warm and welcoming environment
- Our usual agenda, which is what we expect our volunteers to participate in and encourage child participation in, is as follows:
- Homework
- Arts & Crafts
- Welcome Circle
- Theatre Arts Games / Music / Dance
- Recess
- Snack & Story

Requirement Details
Background Check: In the volunteer manual, there are forms in the back to be completed by you that will allow Joshua's Stage to perform the required background check before starting.
Other: You will be provided with a Joshua's Stage powerpoint outlining all of the fundamentals that you will need in your time with us. You will be provided with a Volunteer Manual that you will be required to read and complete the forms at the end.
