Gallery Volunteer: Permanent Collections and Traveling Exhibits
Volunteers will guide visitors through MoSH’s newest exhibits and permanent galleries. Volunteers are
actively engaged with visitors through answering questions, using touch carts to help visitors connect with
exhibits, ensuring the safety of visitors and the gallery, and keeping a record of the number of visitors they
This volunteer position will require extended periods of standing and walking.
Volunteers are needed Wednesday- Sunday, 10:30-1:30 and 1:15-4:30.
Number of Volunteers: 2-3 volunteer per shift
Time commitment: 3 months for 1 or more days a week
Training: 20-25 hours with volunteer manager, other volunteers, education department
staff, security staff, reading material on gallery specimens and artifacts, training on
presenting touch carts and interacting with guests
- Set up a volunteer interview to determine if this would be a good fit for the volunteer and the MoSH.
- For volunteers over 18, MoSH will run a background check (MoSH will pay for). Check the 2 references.
- If everything is okay from the background check and references, training sessions and volunteer days and hours will be set up.
- Certificates are given if needed.
Your registration will hold the spot for your desired schedule. Your registration will be confirmed only after completing the selection requirements as outline above. You will receive an email from Janie Best-Paraham, Manager - Volunteer Services within 5 business days to initiate the selection process.
