Tai Newsome

      I hope this message finds you well. My name is Tai Newsome and I am the Youth Program Coordinator for the City of Williamsburg. I am contacting you to first, formally introduce myself and to also inform you of something we are diligently working on through the city. We at the city run a free, city funded Summer Youth Achievement Program for youth that live within the Williamsburg city limits. By popular demand of the respective youth and with backing from the city they are allowing us to extend our youth programming throughout the year, in order to implement an after school program as well as mentoring. Our service area/students we may work with at the moment are students from Berkeley Middle and James Blaire. During the hours of the given program we look to provide a FREE safe place for the youth to learn, interact with peers, get tutoring or assistance with school work as well as provide them with other hands on learning experiences and activities. Transportation will be provided from school to our program site as well as transportation home once the day concludes. We look to begin the program in early February. I hear the college has had partnered with the city providing tutors/mentors in the past. If you could please assist or help point us in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
